A classic: Playground equipment made of Douglas fir
For our standard wooden playground equipment, we use locally sourced Douglas fir, heartwood-separated, resistance class 3, grade I/II, mounted on post bases.
Tried and true, well-known, popular
Douglas fir is characterised by a straight-grained structure and a light- to reddish-coloured heartwood. With annual ring widths of 1 to 3 mm, it is one of the hardest softwoods.
To ensure that the wooden playground equipment has the longest possible service life and maintains an attractive appearance, it is treated with a wood preservative glaze before shipment. Upon request, we can also offer an environmentally friendly autoclave pressure treatment.
Specifications
End caps
They are made of galvanised and powder-coated Steel and prevent water from entering the tops of the posts.
Countersunk screw connections
To ensure safety and stability, all system-related screw connections are countersunk. The drill holes are secured with polypropylene caps.
Wood joints
Polypropylene connector spacers are used to stabilise the wooden structure and prevent body parts from getting caught.
Post bases
All Douglas fir posts to be installed in the ground are Steel with utility model-protected post bases made of galvanised Steel to prevent direct contact with the ground and to provide structural wood protection.
